Standard vs heavy-duty P-clips: when you need extra strength
M10 fixing holes are standard across the heavy-duty range. This guide explains the structural differences and load requirements that make heavy-duty the right specification.

M10 fixing holes take 28–40 Nm with dry fasteners. In high-vibration environments spring washers or threadlocking compound are recommended.

Everything you need to know about choosing, installing and ordering P-clips for cables, hoses and pipes.
A P-clip (also called a P-clamp) is a one-piece rubber-lined metal fastener used to secure and route cables, pipes, and hoses against a fixed surface — typically a chassis, bulkhead, frame, or wall. The name comes from the shape: when viewed from the side, the looped band and fixing hole ear resemble the letter P.
The EPDM rubber liner inside the clip prevents metal-to-metal contact, absorbs vibration, and protects the outer jacket of the cable or hose from chafing. P-clips are used across automotive, marine, rail, HVAC, and industrial engineering wherever a cable or hose needs to be routed and held securely over the service life of the installation.
Our P-clips use a pressed metal band with an EPDM rubber liner fitted as standard. The band is available in two materials:
Zinc-coated mild steel — the standard specification for indoor, sheltered, and general industrial use. Our zinc-coated clips achieve up to 336 hours in independent ISO 9227 salt spray testing — significantly ahead of low-cost alternatives. See the test data →
Stainless steel — available in A2 (304) and A4 (316) grade. A4 is the correct specification for marine, coastal, and washdown environments where chloride resistance is essential. Compare materials →
All clips are British-made at our Birmingham facility by Birmingham Specialities Ltd. How we manufacture them →
Measure the outer diameter (OD) of the cable, pipe, or hose you want to secure — including any sleeving or insulation — using digital calipers across the widest point. The clip's nominal diameter should match or fractionally exceed that measurement.
If the OD falls between two standard sizes, always size up, never down. A clip that is slightly too large will still close; one that is too small will not close properly and will fail to secure the item.
Yes. Our P-clips are supplied to OEM and industrial customers across automotive, marine, rail, HVAC, agricultural, and general industrial sectors. The EPDM liner maintains flexibility from -40°C to +120°C, making them suitable for engine bay, plant room, and cold-climate installations alike.
For hydraulic and high-pressure hose applications, our heavy-duty range uses a wider band (19–25 mm) to handle surge pressure and vibration loads that would cause a standard clip to slip. Standard vs heavy-duty guide →
